I AM very disappointed at the Government’s decision to cut funding to Remploy, who provide employment services to people with disabilities, resulting in the likely closure of the Southampton site.
By cutting both disability benefits and disability employment services, the Government is sending a mixed message to disabled people: does the Government want them to work or doesn’t it?
The Green Party share the Government’s view that people with disabilities should be able to access mainstream employment where appropriate, but unlike the Government, we recognise that this is not always possible.
We have pledged that we will not cut any services or benefits serving vulnerable groups of people.
CHRIS BLUEMEL, South West Hampshire Green Party.
