We’re all going down the plug hole

CONSIDERING the state of the European money markets and even though David Cameron has shouted “Nothing to do with us Guv,” I do believe in time our economy will join the remainder down the plug hole.

People will pay the price big time for allowing our industrial so-called masters to throw everything away.

Even a bird brain would understand the unemployment benefits bill would, and has, become unsustainable.

This Government must be shown the door and whoever takes over (I pray it’s not the hapless Lib Dems), create some balance in Old England’s society.

At this time we have people taking food bags to keep alive and many of our children undernourished, while at the other end of a long queue the rich and famous strut their stuff.

Thinking back to an election hoarding, they stated “Vote Conservative should you not wish to join the queue” – what a joke!

HUGH CLEVERLY, Fair Oak.

Somehow I don't think we are going to be reading about a family starving to death any time soon.

Here's an idea immediate withdrawal from the EU which we never voted for ( we voted for the EEC) get the same trading agreements as Norway( the EU needs our markets as much as we need theirs).
then use the £14billion we'd save each year to bring down the debt far quicker than was planned

Plus forget Trident - another 5-10bn saved.
When are we ever going to launch nuclear missles? Over the Falklands? In the middle east? I don't think so.

I'd rather see a strong Army/Navy or airforce than have Trident.
but with all that's going on in the EU I can't believe there are no Pro Europeans coming on here & admitting they got it wrong

Correction. We were never asked whether we wanted to enter the EEC. Ted Heath took us in without asking. We then were given the chance to say whether we wanted to stay in.

I would not have voted to go in, but as we were committed already, I voted to stay in.

I hated Ted Heath & I voted Labour & I voted along with the No campaign & Tony Benn.
To say" I would not have voted to go in, but as we were committed already, I voted to stay in."
was crazy if we had been told the truth by the pro campaign would you have still voted yes?
I listened to every thing expected from us for membership & what we were getting from it.
we were being shafted & I could never give that traitor my vote.
As it is how many voted to stay in with hindsight would have voted against?
I supported Labour until Young became pro Europe & took off the referendum from the Labour party manifesto.
If UKIP didn't come out with ridiculous statements they might have got my vote but Maggie for all her faults got us a rebate & a veto so the Tory party was the one for me or I abstained as so many others do

As I stated, "I would not have voted to go in, but as we wee committed already (Heath had signed us up), I voted to stay in."

My reason being, as Heath had signed us up for it, there was a very strong possibility that it would have cost us a hell of a lot to break the agreement. It should also be borne in mind that, in the process, Heath & Co had turned his back on long-term markets.

Yes, Thatcher got us a rebate, but that has long since been paid back, and with regard the veto, I have yet to see it used in any way that we have benefitted. I don't say that to provoke an argument, I genuinely cannot recall any instance.

UKIP? I could not back a 'one policy' party and certainly not one with a leader like the one they have at present. He just does not ring true to me

Linesman I agree with you on UKIP.
Think of the £14billion it's cost us each year & think of how much it would have cost us to pull out?
Many former markets have said publicly they would love to restore trading links with the UK.
Many can do that now as it's no longer a closed shop.
Liberals & to some extent Labour & in the past Tories wanted us to join the Euro I'm so happy we didn't.
I was totally against selling our gold reserves to buy Euro's.
With all that's happening in the EU at this moment the Pro Europeans are losing the argument & if Ed Milliband went ahead with his proposed referendum I do believe we would no longer be part of the EU & there would no longer be a place for UKIP.
