Slaughter or sport?

THE story of yobs attacking defenceless ducks was appalling, but what’s the difference between this dreadful incident and the slaughter of grouse and pheasants in the Exbury area every Saturday in the name of sport?

Those ducks weren't bred to be shot.
how many grouse do you think there would be if the gamekeeper didn't keep predators away?

Was unaware that there were grouse at Exbury, but if there are, and they are shot, they would be eaten, just like the pheasants.

Unless the yobs ate the ducks that they killed, that is the difference.

Good start, but I am still not ready to be elected the President of the Loosehead Appreciation Society!

Just because grouse are bred to be shot - does that make it ok to do so?

Killing animals for fun/sport/pass-time is never something that should happen in a civilised society.

Barbarism belongs in the past and it is about time we humans learned to respect other living creatures - not breed them simply to kill the poor things for "sport" .....

Sadly not all the game birds that are shot will be eaten. Many are simply put into large pits in the ground and burned/buried, when there are too many for the table and the game keeper will confirm this .... needless killing of live birds for "fun" is not acceptable behaviour IMO.

I know. All those clay pigeons that are shot and nobody eats them. Some are just winged and just left on the ground to suffer.

I am also against 'Pin the tail on the donkey.' Just think of the needless pain caused when the tail is pinned on various parts of its body, just to amuse those watching a blindfolded person attempting to do the job.

I also have a thing about Snakes & Ladders. A ladder is a useful implement, purpose built to enable people to reach objects that are normally out of reach.

Snakes, on the other hand, were not put on earth for people to slide on. Not all snakes are harmful, and feed on insects etc that can be termed as pests. Even the adder/viper, although our only poisonous snake, is not aggressive, and should be treat

I( wonder if the Big cats or even Wolves or Hunting dogs wouldn't eat someone because they don't eat meat or don't believe in killing for sport?
As with all farm animals most of these would not survive in the wild & would be shot as pests for eating the grain & vegetables we would need to eat to live,
Once upon a time I was Anti Fox Hunting until I heard a Farm Worker say what foxes did to chickens & then I saw it for myself now I'm Pro Fox hunting
