Slaughter or sport?
5:00pm Friday 1st June 2012 in Readers' Letters
THE story of yobs attacking defenceless ducks was appalling, but what’s the difference between this dreadful incident and the slaughter of grouse and pheasants in the Exbury area every Saturday in the name of sport?

Unless the yobs ate the ducks that they killed, that is the difference.

Was unaware that there were grouse at Exbury, but if there are, and they are shot, they would be eaten, just like the pheasants.

Killing animals for fun/sport/pass-time is never something that should happen in a civilised society.
Barbarism belongs in the past and it is about time we humans learned to respect other living creatures - not breed them simply to kill the poor things for "sport" .....

I am also against 'Pin the tail on the donkey.' Just think of the needless pain caused when the tail is pinned on various parts of its body, just to amuse those watching a blindfolded person attempting to do the job.
I also have a thing about Snakes & Ladders. A ladder is a useful implement, purpose built to enable people to reach objects that are normally out of reach.
Snakes, on the other hand, were not put on earth for people to slide on. Not all snakes are harmful, and feed on insects etc that can be termed as pests. Even the adder/viper, although our only poisonous snake, is not aggressive, and should be treat

As with all farm animals most of these would not survive in the wild & would be shot as pests for eating the grain & vegetables we would need to eat to live,
Once upon a time I was Anti Fox Hunting until I heard a Farm Worker say what foxes did to chickens & then I saw it for myself now I'm Pro Fox hunting

how many grouse do you think there would be if the gamekeeper didn't keep predators away?
