I REFER to the letter from Councillor Whitbread on July 18.

When he responds to Thelma Ashes’ letter, he is completely missing the point. She means humans rights in general, so when terrorists commit atrocities in the UK they are not tried, but acquitted under legislation from our old friends in the EU.

Under the same directive comes the Arrest Warrant. UK citizens are assumed guilty, and as such are held up to three year in custody until foreign lawyers decide to prosecute.

So, Mr Whitbread, do you still think this legislation is fair in general terms?
