A house in Lee-on-the-Solent could be turned into a nursing home, if plans are approved by Gosport Borough Council.

Albert Asare, of Alma Bay Ltd, has applied for planning permission to turn a five-bedroom house at 159 Portsmouth Road into a care home for up to four adults with learning difficulties.

The proposal will see between three and five staff working throughout the day, and one or two at night.

The house will have a living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, conservatory, medical store, shower and toilet on the ground floor and three ensuite bedrooms, a bathroom and an office on the first floor.

The proposal does not outline any external changes to the building or landscaping of the outside space.

The 177 square metre house is in 0.03 hectares of land and has four car parking spaces on the hardcore standing at the front of the house.

It is 80 metres from the Inn by the Sea bus stop, which connects to Southampton city centre, Locks Heath, Fareham and Gosport via Woolston, Lowford, Sarisbury Green, Warsash, Titchfield, Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent.

The planning report from consultants ET Planning Ltd said: “The house will retain the large rear garden for the occupants to utilise and is easily accessible, providing ample parking space and access for emergency services.”

Hampshire County Council’s highways department has no objection to the plans.

The planning application was received on April 19 and will be considered by Gosport Borough Council in the coming weeks.
