Detectives are seeking dash cam footage amid an attempted murder probe.

Officers were called to Kent Street after 8pm last night following a report of assault.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

As part of their enquiries, officers are urging any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “I would like to hear from anyone who was in the Kent Street area yesterday evening between 7.30pm and 8pm and saw an altercation taking place or any suspicious behaviour.

“Perhaps you were driving through the area at the time and captured something on dash cam, or maybe you have mobile phone or CCTV footage that may help our enquiries into the circumstances of this incident.

It comes after two people were arrested in connection with the incident.

A 35-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 34-year-old woman from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of intentionally assisting/encouraging the commission of an offence.

Both remain in police custody at this time.

Officers will remain at the scene today conducting enquiries.
