A HAMPSHIRE firm has designed a complete office in a box.

Called the GoPod, it folds away from fully working office to just two foot ten inches deep in seconds, Bursledon-based inventors Creative Facilities Management claim it's the future of the office and plan to unveil it to the general public for the first time at the Excel Centre, London in May.

The design of the hi-tech office, which starts from around £5,000, offers staff the chance to change the space to suit their needs from small and private to open plan.

It can also have rechargeable batteries that will power its own lights and a computer for 48 hours at a go.

Karen Ford, chief executive of Creative Facilities Management said: "Times have changed. Having your own dedicated office is a thing of the past for most people.

"Office space is expensive and to get the most out of this costly asset means you need to be flexible and change to suit the requirements throughout the day.

"Now we can adapt to each of those demands without changing the need for expensive, space wasting additional office facilities. The GoPod will revolutionise how we think about space.

"For too long we have been chained to our static desks - now we can work standing up or sitting down, being able to interact with colleagues and have privacy when required."
