PRIMMER Olds B.A.S acting for private investors have sold the freehold interest in Eastgate House, Town Quay Southampton.
The four-storey property comprised a commercial investment for sale in Southampton with a three-bedroom penthouse over looking Town Quay.
The building was acquired for residential development by a local property developer specialising in historic buildings.
The intention is to convert this prominent listed building to self-contained apartments in this desirable location close to the waterside at Town Quay and within easy walking distance of Westquay shopping centre.
The property had been let as offices for a number of years,.
Due to a number of historic features and its’ history, the building presented a number of challenges for the developers to overcome, say the agents.
Eastgate House once housed the Eastgate Printing works and dates from the mid-19th century. The Winkle Street elevation incorporates a section of the town wall.
From the late 19th century to around 1960 the building was used as a furniture warehouse for the Edwin Jones department store.
The marketing was undertaken by Duane Walker, director in the Primmer Olds B.A.S Southampton office, who specialises in investment and development property.
