A WINCHESTER newsagents has changed hands after its owners decide to ‘pursue other business interests’.

Philp and Caroline Plambeck have run the Bridge Shop on Bridge Street for four years, but have now sold up to another private owner.

They said: “We would like to thank Tom Glanvill of Christie and Co for his help with the sale of our business, he was approachable as well as professional which gave us confidence throughout our sale process.

“A buyer was found reasonably swiftly and, importantly, Tom was instrumental in moving the transaction forward.”

The store was sold off a leasehold asking price of £80,000 to experienced operator Nada Selvaramesh.

He has shown interest in diversifying the store to include product lines such as alcohol and food-to-go.

Tom Glanvill, senior business agent at Christie and Co said: “I am not surprised that we have had such a tremendous response to this business as Winchester is a lovely place to earn a living running a store.

“This sale demonstrates the robustness of the newsagent sector.”
