A DISCOUNT supermarket chain has revealed all the place it wants to build new stores in Southampton.
Lidl has revealed six locations where it intends to build new supermarkets.
This forms part of the discounter’s ambitious plans to have 1,000 stores in its portfolio by the end of 2023.
Below are the sites Lidl intends to build new stores:
- Southampton - Bassett
- Southampton - Bitterne
- Southampton - Netley Abbey
- Southampton - Portswood
- Southampton - Stoneham
- Southampton - Townhill
They also plan to build new stores in Chandlers Ford, Hedge End, Lymington, Romsey, Winchester Town Centre and West Badger Farm.
Southampton features on the list, with particular focus this year including town centre, edge of centre, retail park and metropolitan locations, such as Southampton Bassett and Portswood.
The discounter is seeking prominent sites, easily accessible and have a strong pedestrian or traffic flow, Lidl is also interested in mixed-use sites, following the success of initiatives such as its Richmond store, where the upper floors of the building are home to Deer Park Primary School.
