DOZENS of ambitious Sotonians headed to the Novotel hotel this morning for the Daily Echo SE1 job fair.

The one day event at the top Westquay Road venue saw more than 20 companies take time out to recruit keen workers.

From education professionals to recruitment companies, care providers, the army, as well as health charities and Southampton City Council personnel, there were also five experts on hand to help with the all-important CV, while speakers from the National Careers Service gave seminars designed to help land that dream job.

Lifeways Community Care, Dynamic Load Monitoring, Solent Gateway, Rose Road Association and the Daily Echo are some of the exhibitors.

Business manager Jason Tuck said: "It's an integral part of the jobs scene calendar. We've been running the jobs fairs for more than 20 years. The fact that we've been supporting the jobs scene for more than twenty years shows Newsquest's commitment to the Hampshire economy."

Promotions executive Jo Richardson added: "It's great to see so many people wanting to take the next step in their career.

"All the exhibitors here today have time to chat to you about how to get the most out of your working life."

It is on until 3pm today.
