RENOWNED BRITISH VIOLIST PERFORMS AT TURNER SIMS
Internationally acclaimed British violist Lawrence Power performs at Turner Sims Southampton on Tuesday 6 March.
The chamber musician, concerto soloist, and orchestra director is joined by his regular duo partner, pianist Simon Crawford-Philips. Together they showcase de Falla’s famous collection of Spanish folksongs and Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Power Play, written specially for them. The concert begins and ends with music with Shakespearean associations. Berlioz’s Death of Ophelia was inspired by the composer’s love of Hamlet, whilst the drama of Prokofiev’s vivid and exuberant ballet masterpiece Romeo and Juliet reflects the playwright’s tale of struggle, betrayal and love.
Audience members aged 8 – 25 can get their ticket for this concert FREE through the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust. Head to turnersims.co.uk for more details.
