CHILDREN will be able to meet Father Christmas on Hampshire's heritage railway this year.

The Watercress Line has added to its festive events, with a grotto being set up at Ropley Station throughout November and December.

There will be vintage fairground rides, a miniature railway, a petting farm and a market.

Simon Baggott, general manager at the Watercress Line said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer a Father Christmas experience at the Watercress Line this year in addition to our spectacular Steam Illuminations event which we recently announced.

"Families may have some reservations about Father Christmas experiences this year but we are ensuring it is compliant with government guidelines while keeping the magic alive for children.

"Although visitors will need to socially distance from Father Christmas, he will not be wearing a face covering to ensure the best experience for children and allow you to take advantage of photo opportunities."

Due to government guidelines, bookings are only available up to a maximum of six people.

Visitors will have unlimited rides on the miniature railway, meet Father Christmas’s farmyard friends from Mucky Bucket Farm, take unlimited rides on the vintage fairground, while grown ups can enjoy a hot drink included in the booking.
