A local theatre company are bringing a highly rated new comedy production to Hampshire this weekend.

BlackBox Theatre Company will visiting a range of open air venues across the South of England with Noel Coward’s comic masterpiece, Blithe Spirit.

As part of their summer tour, BlackBox Theatre will be visiting Netley, for two Open Air performances of Blithe Spirit at Royal Victoria Country Park.

There will be two showings on Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26, both starting at 7.30pm.

The company has described the plot as follows: "Charles Condomine, a successful novelist has had two wives. One is most certainly living and the other is most certainly dead! However, after a rather eventful séance held by the eccentric Madame Arcati, the ghost of his temperamental first wife has come to visit, much to the consternation of the current Mrs Condomine.

"Two wives, ‘living’ under the same roof? What could possibly go wrong?"

BlackBox are currently supporting The Minstead Trust, a charity for people with learning disabilities, that supports them to achieve greater independence, lead fulfilled lives and live as full citizens in society. All money raised from the sale of Programs will be donated to the charity at the end of the tour.

Social distancing restrictions in place so audience members are asked to bring their own seats or rugs to sit on and a picnic.

The company said: "The show will go on regardless of the weather so please dress appropriately. If in the event that the performance does have to be cancelled due to adverse conditions you will be offered at alternate date to come and see the show or a full refund."
