A DELIVERY service which allows you to get takeaway meals from your favourite restaurants to your door has launched in Southampton.

Deliveroo is an app that allows residents to order takeaway from a number of restaurants, including 7 Bone, Shrimp and Burger and ASK Italian.

The service successfully launched in Southampton on January 6 after partnering with more than 20 independent and chain restaurants in the city.

Deliveroo was launched in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski and since then has grown throughout the UK and the rest of the world.

Customers are able to order meals from a variety of restaurants, which are then conveniently delivered to their homes and offices in an average of 30 minutes, with a flat delivery rate of £2.50 per delivery.

Restaurants are also able to take advantage of the service’s proprietary end-to-end technology and logistics platform to offer delivery for the first time without having to run their own fleet of drivers.

In Southampton, Deliveroo has teamed up with with a range of restaurants including local favourites such as Handmade Burger Co, Mango Thai Tapas, the Olive Tree and Roosters Piri Piri.

Food orders as well as payment are all processed through Deliveroo’s website or their app for iOS users.

The app requires you to enter a postcode and preferred time slot, and you will be offered a list of local restaurants offering food within the delivery zone and time.

You can also choose between scheduling orders up to one day in advance or to order food for immediate delivery.

Daily Echo:

Xavier Collins, southeast regional manager for Deliveroo said: “We are delighted to have brought Deliveroo to Southampton.

“We know that residents like to eat out in the town’s top restaurants, but sometimes due to work or family commitments, this is not always possible.

“Now you can have a meal from one of your favourite restaurants delivered to your home or work in an average of 30 minutes.”
