If I’m honest I don’t eat a lot of Indian style food and have never really been that adventurous with venturing away from my trusted favourites on the menu.

But after visiting Naz’s Cuisine in Romsey I came away having tried several new dishes and discovered that I have a new favourite meal.

Nestled snuggly along The Hundred, the Bangladeshi restaurant was surprisingly busy for a week night and had a cosy atmosphere inside. We took a window seat and noted how attentive and polite the staff were to both ourselves and the other customers in the restaurant.

After explaining to Naz that I wanted to try some new dishes he recommended I try the King Prawn Puree for starter and his self-titled dish, Naz’s special.

Well the King Prawn Puree was absolutely loaded with prawns and was accompanied by a rich, spicy sauce which I have to say was the most delicious appetiser I have ever tasted. It was also massive. Stupidly I had also ordered two onion bhajis which were about the size of tennis balls and extremely tasty.

My girlfriend also ordered the onion bhajis and we were practically full after finishing the starters.

For the main course my girlfriend had the buttered chicken, which was barbecue chicken cooked in a creamy, mild sauce with coconut, almonds and pure butter ghee. Of course, I had to pinch a bit. It was very rich but very tender and moreish.

My Naz’s special was a lamb tikka cooked in a special spicy sauce with fresh coriander. It was nice and hot and very tasty. As well as that we ordered some sag aloo (yum), a naan (a must for dipping) and two lots of rice.

Unfortunately, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we only managed to finish half of the food. But we weren’t too full that we could not squeeze in a dessert, of course!

So we shared The Emperor which was a caramel ice cream with toffee sauce and crushed amaretto biscuits. Lovely.

In retrospect, it was the nicest Indian-style meal we have had. The King Prawn Puree is now my firm favourite and I still have fond memories of eating it to this day.

We had three soft drinks and a glass of wine and altogether the bill came to £51, which for the amount of food we ordered I considerd to be very reasonable.
