If I mentioned swinging in New York, I'm sure that many of you would have thoughts of dodgy goings on in city apartments. But that's not the kind of swinging that I'm talking about, for Spiderman's latest video game Spiderman: Web of Shadows is now available to buy.

It's nothing particularly new, an animated representation of New York to navigate your superhero around in, thwarting the evil escapades of generic henchmen whilst occasionally engaging in larger boss fights. But Web of Shadows does bring some new elements to superhero games.

Being able to control either normal or dark Spiderman is a fantastic move because it means that you can either do good or bad things in the city, depending on how you would like to play. The customisation of Spiderman is also very good because you can earn experience points that can be used to enable Spidey to learn new moves.

At first swinging (not the dodgy type, remember) around New York seems a little difficult to control because it all happens so fast, but as you get used to it, you start ending up exactly where you want in seconds and feeling pretty good about doing so.

It's inevitable that kids are going to love this game; they're going to love the fact that they can throw cars at enemies and choose to be good or bad. On the other hand, adults or even teenagers may get a little bored with the repetitive nature of it - swing to there, beat up a bad guy, swing to another place, beat up another bad guy. It can be a little mundane.
