An action platform game with a 9.21 jigawatt battery bolted on; inFAMOUS 2 is a super-charged roof-jumper with incredible pace and electricity.

Taking place after the shocking ending of the first game that left players on a huge cliffhanger, players reprise the role of Cole MacGrath, a once ordinary man who harnesses electricity and can use it as a weapon. Faced with a moral dilemma at every juncture, morality has a huge bearing on not just Cole's physical appearance, but the powers he develops.

Most of the powers from the first game are available from the offset, but the upgrades and power-ups still come thick and fast. Using an experience point system, choices are provided throughout, making Cole the customisable badass we’ve all been craving.

Along the way are a host of other characters, some familiar and some brand new. This time however, some of them have powers, and it’s down to the player to choose whom Cole will work with.

Now armed with a close-quarter weapon that looks strangely like an electric pitchfork, the combat system is far more fluid, and the choice of how to tackle combat has increased greatly.

Taking place in the city of New Marais, players have a wealth of open-world map to adventure in. Taking missions from random strangers in the street, zipping along electrical cables, or just ploughing on with the main story – there’s rarely a shortage of things to do.

Not only does each section of the city pack more detail than ever before, the cut-scenes and animation sequences look superb. The aesthetics in every department have been turned up a notch, and some of the cutscenes still use a comic-book style of animation, lending the experience a far more fantasy-based feel.

With everything bigger and better, there's little surprise the enemies are also of epic proportions. As well as collectibles, inFAMOUS 2 also gets a great deal of longevity from its creation mode. This allows players to easily build and play their homemade levels and then share them with others online.

Despite it containing a great deal of bugs. we loved the original inFAMOUS. Now with many of the kinks ironed out and a plethora of extra bits-and-bobs, we love inFAMOUS 2 even more. It’s a supercool superhero game that all PS3 owners will get a buzz from.
