MOLOTOV Jukebox are set to headline the eighth Alresford Music Festival, organisers have announced.

The 3,500 strong Hampshire festival dubbed ‘the mini-Glastonbury’ has already developed a reputation for bringing great contemporary world music to Hampshire.

Now organisers have secured the highest profile act since the festival’s beginnings in 2007.

The ‘gyp-step’ band (a mix of dubstep and gypsy styles), is fronted by Natalia Tena who played Metamorphmagi Nymphadora Tonks in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix and Osha in Game of Thrones.

The band uses an unrivalled onstage presence with the sunny sounds of carnivals from around the world creating an explosion of colour and energy, mixing violins, accordions, vocals and rhythm in a mixture of ska, latino, soul, funk and other jump-up styles.

This unique tropical-gypsy-dance sound they bring has seen them sell out shows from Rio de Janeiro to Istanbul.

Sue Thomas, part of the organising team, said: "We’re really excited to be getting Molotov Jukebox, they’re very contemporary with a wide appeal.

"Natalia’s acting skills will really help to create a fantastic atmosphere at the festival which is popular with people of all ages."

A total of 25 bands are set to perform across five stages at the event, on Saturday June 10 at Arlebury Park.

The festival is not for profit and all money raised will go to regional, national and international music based charities and other good causes.

Alresford Music Festival this year includes camping for the first time, as well as a Blues Jam Tent and ‘The Globe’ Theatre Tent, plus a packed festival village with plenty of local ales and food stalls.

The festival was first dreamt up in 2007 by Alresford resident Ken Veitch who teamed up with fellow musician Brian Hayward to launch the event. It has since developed a strong reputation as one of the country’s best community festivals.
