LOCAL band Deadman have just released their debut album as they get set to play in Southampton this weekend.

They are an interesting band of musos:Katie, the lead singer, used to write children’s books with chef Marco Pierre White and Adam Hargreaves (Mr Men). She is also cousins of Sarah and James Beattie (former Saints Player and current coach for Birmingham FC). Katie was previously signed to a record label in London.

Darren (vocals and guitar), Jim (drums) and Chris Hann (keys) are all also members of well-known tribute band The Silver Beatles. Jim has recently completed the London Marathon and been on tour drumming for well-known band ‘Birdpen’.

Hag (pedal steel) is an underwater acoustic scientist who informs government policy on ‘underwater noise’. Hag also plays with well known local band ‘The Family’. All members of the band have in the past played or supported 'famous bands'...and our good friend and advisor is Neil Simpson Treloar, (also a Southampton native) previous manager of Catfish and the Bottlemen and current manager of other well-known up-and-coming artists.

All band members are full-time workers and parents and told The Daily Echo: "We want to encourage people in our types of life-circumstances to keep doing what they love/ keep being creative, even if life tries to ‘get in the way’! So many people in our generation give-up on their creative endeavours because of the fast and tiresome treadmill-of-life…so this release is our way of saying to others ‘keep going — it’s worth it’

Their album is free to download on Spotify and they added: "We offer our music for free, in the hope that it brings you as much enjoyment as it brought us to create."

Deadman are playing in Heartbreakers on Saturday at 2.30pm as part of Southampton’s Music in the City event.
