David Dimbleby asked Stacey Dooley for a “booty call” when the pair appeared on Have I Got News For You.

The former Question Time presenter chaired the comedy panel for the satirical show, which included Strictly Come Dancing winner Dooley.

Dimbleby also took a question from the audience in nod to his Question Time reign, and cut to Peter Snow and the swingometer in a reference to his election coverage.

In an exchange with Dooley, the BBC veteran was forced to ask what a “booty call” was, following a joke from the Strictly star.

Dimbleby provoked applause from the audience with his plan to find out what the phrase meant.

He said: “No, I don’t know what a booty call is. You give me one and then I’ll know what it is.”

Dooley had insisted that “David knows” and referenced a “little black book”.

She was pressed by Dimbleby on her views on a second referendum for Brexit, with the presenter saying that a public vote had helped her through Strictly.

Dooley added that rerunning votes was a “a slippery slope”.
