WINCHESTER Cathedral have a varied programme for the coming week, starting with a Jane Austen tour and tea tomorrow at 10am.
Jane Austen died in Winchester in 1817, in rented rooms in College Street. She was buried in the north aisle of the Cathedral. This tour offers visitors an intimate and often amusing insight into her life and connections with the Cathedral, including a walk through the Cathedral's historic Inner Close to the house on College Street where Jane and Cassandra stayed during their time in Winchester.
Tickets cost £12.50.
On Tuesday the Cathedral sees a free lunchtime recital by Mousai String Quartet at 1pm, a collection will be taken to support the cathedral music programme.
T 10.30am and 1.30pm on Wednesday there is a specialist tour on Medieval times. Get a view of this great Church from 1079 to 1475, focusing on the builders, carvers, glassmakers and tilers as part of a series of specialist subject tours, perfect for those who want to dig deeper in the cathedral's history, led by expert guides.
