A LONDON suburban family from Shooters Green, late 1930s, just before the outbreak of the Second World War; George Radfern is so fed up with his sponging relatives, he tells them a secret that will burst family values and challenge their view of him.

His family is shocked at the revelation – but is all as it appears in this “immorally comic story of money, family and criminality”?

Georgie Gulliford and Kevin Fraser were the standout performances of the evening as George’s free-loading inlaws, with authentic northern accents, strong characterisations and natural comic flair in every gesture, action and line delivered.

Josh Coates appeared confident and at home as George’s potential son-in-law.

Live theatre needs good audiences to thrive and this production (although lacking pace and hesitant at times), with its well-dressed set, props, costumes and musical choices that depicted the pre-war era, deserves to be performed before a larger audience.
