Proving a popular choice on the panto circuit Westfield’s production combined traditional with quirky, giving us a sparky Wishee Washee (Rebekah Keen) and an affable but none too smart Aladdin (Beki Holdaway).

The other roles were more usual with a proper baddie to elicit the pre-requisite boos and hisses (Aaron Jones) and a Princess (Nicole Cummins) whose voice was as beautiful as her face.

On the subject of voices the Genie (Chloe Seaborn) provided some aural magic, too.

There was an abundance of songs and a large and well drilled chorus, especially the littlies, who gave their focus to executing several complex choreography sequences.

The set was managed well and the costumes were notable for their attention to detail and profusion. The technical side involved some decent lighting and impressive pyrotechnics and the cast could be heard clearly, though first night nerves led them to gabble some of their lines.

The show lacked pace in places and some of the gags fell flat but the group had clearly worked hard to provide an entertaining night.
