STARTED only last year, the Fareham Musical Society Youth Theatre exhibited their growth in confidence with their second production and a move from musical compilation to their first “book show”.
The cast of 40 plus children had obviously risen to the challenge of harnessing excitement, fun and enthusiasm for the production and their enjoyment was a palatable dimension to the performance.
Director Jackie Margison, Musical Director Valerie Tucker and choreographer Matt Swann oversaw a well disciplined and well sung show that had some lovely song and dance numbers.
While of somewhat slender length, the story was nicely told and made good use of the stage space.
There were engaging performances at its centre, in particular Harry Rowsell (Mowgli), Emily Gregg (Bagheera), Cameron Hall as an appropriately commanding Colonel Hathi and Ewan Wharton as a bouncy, cuddly Baloo.
This was a lively, enjoyable performance of the Disney classic.
