JEREMY Lloyd and David Croft’s stage version of ’Allo, ’Allo is instantly recognisable to anyone who recalls their popular TV series, as it features most of the well-known characters and catchphrases.
A supremely silly, yet well constructed and very English farce, it shows why they are such a successful writing duo.
Tightly managed, well staged and directed with flair by Jenny Green, the pacing of the production never flagged for a moment.
The cast worked very hard to make their own mark on these recognisable characters, while also having fun in the process.
Neville Green (Rene Artois) was a solid anchorman, the centre of the show, guiding the audience through the ever-changing storyline.
Fiona Crosthwaite Eyre was just right as his deluded chanteuse wife Edith – her dire cabaret was a masterly performance. Shawn Condra made an impression as the preening Captain Bertorelli, while Sarah Short stole her scenes as the star of the Resistance, Michelle.
