THE developer transforming the site of a former Southampton shipyard into housing is trying to keep the past alive by building on memories.
Crest Nicholson Regeneration, which is behind the 1,600-home Centenary Quay development on the old Vosper Thornycroft shipyard site, in Woolston, is calling on people to submit pictures of this historic site in its former glory.
The photographs will be used for public artworks in and around the development.
Crest Nicholson spokesman Susan Young said: “We are keen to pay tribute to the historic roots of our new development. “The shipyard played an important part in the city’s past and our development forms part of its future. By collating images of the shipyard, we hope to preserve its history and make it a prominent part of the development”
Cash prizes of £100, £50, and £25 are being awarded for the best plus a special prize submitted by a child under 10.
