THE biggest date on a Hampshire town’s calendar has been axed after 15 years.
The Ringwood Festival, which has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity since it was first held in 1997, comprised more than 100 events and drew huge crowds every July.
But it will not be held next year after its steering committee voted to stop organising the annual fiesta.
Committee chairman Brian Terry said: “Currently people are restricted to having an event during this one week. We believe it will be less stressful and more beneficial to the town if groups choose their own dates for their event throughout the summer.”
