The world`s newest cruise ship, the 141,000-ton Royal Princess, will undertake two preview cruises from Southampton before her maiden voyage in June.

Currently under construction in Italy, Royal Princess will leave the city on a two-night itinerary featuring a call at St Peter Port, Guernsey, on June 9 and again on June 14. Both voyages will go on sale on Tuesday, January 29 at 2pm to passengers already booked on the maiden voyage, and Wednesday, January 30 at 2pm to all other customers.

The 3,600-passenger Royal Princess is a new-generation ship for Southampton-based Princess Cruises, and among the ship’s special features will be a greatly expanded atrium, the social hub of the ship; SeaWalk, a top-deck glass-bottomed walkway extending out 28ft over the water; private poolside cabanas that appear to be floating on the water; the new Princess Live! television studio; a special Chef’s Table Lumiere, a private dining room that surrounds diners in a curtain of light; and balconies on all outside staterooms.

After leaving Southampton on June 16, Royal Princess will spend the summer in the Mediterranean, followed by the Caribbean during the autumn and winter.
