Nature lovers in Hampshire are invited to take part in the RSPB annual Big Garden Birdwatch, which is taking place tomorrow and Sunday.
The wildlife survey last year attracted 600,000 people across the UK, including 22,000 from Hampshire, who spotted birds in their garden to reveal which species are flourishing.
Last year, the Big Garden Birdwatch revealed that the house sparrow, blue tit and the wood pigeon were Hampshire’s most common birds. This year, the conservation charity is appealing for more people to keep an eye on garden visitors. To take part, people are asked to spend an hour in their garden or nearest park noting the highest number of each bird species seen. Results are then submitted to the RSPB at rspb.org.uk/birdwatch.
