Detectives are investigating the attempted robbery of a woman as she walked home from a night out.
The woman, aged in her 20s, was walking home in Sandown on the Isle of Wight when she was approached by a man who tried to steal her handbag.
She resisted and managed to keep hold of her bag. The woman was not seriously injured.
Nothing was stolen in the attempted robbery, which took place at around half past midnight on Saturday morning in Grafton Street near the junction with Grafton Lane.
The man was described as wearing a black hooded top.
Witnesses or anyone with information about a man acting suspiciously in Grafton Street in Sandown late on Friday night are asked to contact Isle of Wight CID at Newport Police Station by phoning 101.
