A SEX monster who filmed himself abusing two young girls over a four-year period has been locked up for 25 years.

Russell Goodyear, 43, is beginning the jail term after being told he will not be released until he is no longer a risk to children.

A judge said paedophile Russell Goodyear had treated the children as sex objects in a most inhuman way. He was only caught when a third young victim plucked up the courage to tell her mum she was being abused by him.

When police raided his home they found the sick home movies he had made and more than 14,000 indecent still and moving images of other young girls.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Bussey-Jones said: “There was every sign that the children had been comprehensively groomed to undertake the sexual acts.”

Yesterday Goodyear, of Southampton Road, Cadnam, was jailed after admitting a catalogue of abuse that covered three indictments and involved 46 offences of rape, making indecent photos, taking indecent photos, sexual assault and voyeurism.

Judge Gary Burrell QC said there was no mitigation in his case, except that he had pleaded guilty, and dismissed any notion he was remorseful.

“Your treatment of them was callous and they have been corrupted,” he told Goodyear, who showed not a flicker of emotion at hearing his sentence. “You treated them as sex objects in a most inhuman way.”

Ms Bussey-Jones told Southampton Crown Court how the investigation was sparked after a third girl had complained to her mother about the assault. “She had the courage to speak out and his offending would otherwise have remained unknown.”

Goodyear, who was then on the sex offenders register after attacking a girl more than 10 years earlier when he ambushed her in the street, was arrested by police in Gloucestershire, where he had gone on a two-week holiday.

Hampshire police then searched his caravan and seized various computer and electronic storage devices, which revealed the severe sexual abuse of the two other girls, which appeared to have lasted for at least four years.

In mitigation Richard Martin said Goodyear did not want to be released from prison until he had received treatment for what the defendant described as “an illness”.

“At least he appreciates the profound problem he faces and clearly he wants to have help. He accepts he had groomed the children but there was no violence used.”

Passing sentence the judge regarded Goodyear as dangerous because of the length and nature of his offending, his lack of remorse, his attraction to young girls and his distorted attitude to his offending.

Goodyear cannot be released until he has completed two thirds of his sentence and he has satisfied the Parole Board he is no longer a risk to children. He was also placed on the sex offenders register and banned from using computers and being with young children indefinitely.
