Disgraced MP Chris Huhne was this morning waking up on a jail wing for vulnerable prisoners after being bullied during his first day behind bars.

The former Eastleigh MP was segregated from other convicts at Wandsworth prison last night for his own safety.

Huhne, 58, allegedly asked to be moved to the special area after fellow prisoners discovered he was a millionaire and badgered him for cash.

And it was also reported that the shamed ex-Cabinet minister was ridiculed by prison officers on the jail tannoy, shouting “Order! Order!” when calling him for breakfast.

Other prisoners at the south-west London jail were said to have roared with laughter as Huhne went from his cell to pick up the meal.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, Huhne and his ex-wife, Vicky Pryce, 60, were both jailed for eight months for perverting the course of justice, after Pryce took speeding points for her former husband in 2003.

But reports on social networking site Twitter this morning have suggested that economist Pryce could launch an appeal against her sentence.

She was convicted following a dramatic retrial last week, after Huhne had sensationally changed his plea to guilty just weeks before.

Jailing the pair at Southward Crown Court on Monday, Mr Justice Sweeney said that Huhne had fallen from a “great height”, and Pryce from a “considerable height”.
