The hunt is on for Hampshire's next catwalk queen.

Organisers of the county's annual beauty pageant have begun their search for budding young models - and ultimately a potential Miss World.

Talent spotters are casting their eager eyes over Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as they attempt to unearth the region's finest young women, aged between 17 and 24.

A judging panel will then select a group of around 30 finalists to take part in the prestigious Miss Hampshire pageant in May, which will be hosted by Mr England Roland Johnson.

The winner of that contest will receive a place in the Miss England grand final in June, where they will compete to represent their country and the glamorous Miss World contest.

Last year's Miss Hampshire winner, Grace Levy, 23, went on to finish in the top 17 of the Miss England final, bagging herself a modelling contract in the process.

And as reported by the Daily Echo, the psychology graduate from Titchfield will once again be appearing at Miss England this summer, after taking home the Miss Greater London crown earlier in the year.

Former Miss England judge Paula Langley, who is organising the Miss Hampshire final, said: “Beauty pageants are about the whole package of a girl, not just her looks.

“Her talent, her interests, her intelligence, her ability to speak in public are all important as well as her beauty, so it appeals to girls of all types.

“Already we have got a solicitor, a show jumper, a skier all entering - so that tells you what a range of girls we get.”
