ENTERTAINER Barry Humphries – whose alter egos have brought him international acclaim and made him a star around the globe – is to come to The Mayflower, Southampton as part of his final tour of the UK in 2014.
Eat Pray Laugh! will give audiences the chance to bid a fond farewell to Humphries and all of his unforgettable characters – the Honourable Sir Les Patterson, Sandy Stone and, of course, the iconic Dame Edna Everage.
The Australian export, known as the housewife superstar, has played the West End and Broadway, as well as the Last Night of the Poms at the Royal Albert Hall.
Act one of Eat Pray Laugh! features gentle, grandfatherly Sandy Stone and the inebriated cultural attaché Sir Les Patterson – before Dame Edna herself takes to the stage.
Surrounded by spectacular sets and dancers, Dame Edna promises to “empower” audiences as she meditates on the big issues of gender, ethnicity and climate change in a brand new show.
Humphries has already taken his final triumphant bow to audiences throughout Australia and New Zealand.
