A SECURITY systems training company is to lend its services to police in Dubai.

Bishop’s Waltham-based Tavcom is to provide specialist CCTV training for the International Centre for Security & Safety (ICSS) of the Dubai Police Academy.

At a formal ceremony Mike Tennent, of Tavcom, and Maj Gen Professor Dr Mohamed Ahmed Bin Fahad, of the Dubai Police Academy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The company’s training division will now provide specialist CCTV training programmes for installation and service engineers in Dubai, giving foundation and advanced courses.

The ICSS strengthens the skills of Dubai nationals, as well as local and contracted personnel of various nationalities working in the region by providing a range of vocational training programmes for individuals involved in the electronic security industry.

This collaboration is designed to improve existing skills levels in order for licences to be issued by the Department of Protective Systems of the Dubai Police Service to individuals and companies, which will permit them to install and maintain electronic security systems in accordance with international codes and good practices.

Tavcom, based at Claylands Park, is a leading supplier of security systems training courses providing courses to installers, operators, managers and designers of CCTV, Network IP, intruder alarm, access control, fire alarm and all other electronic security systems.

It currently offers more than 50 regularly scheduled training courses ranging from one-day seminars to five-day fully residential programmes.

Mr Tennent said: “We are naturally proud that we have been entrusted by the Dubai Police Academy to provide the tutors and course material for these very important training programmes.

“It is a very welcome vote of confidence in our ability to provide first class education for anyone involved in the electronic security industry, wherever they may be based in the world.”
