THE ORIGINAL Apple iPhone, which was launched in 2007, will no longer be supported by the Cupertino firm.
According to a report on 9to5Mac, an internal Apple document says the original iteration of the iPhone will no longer be serviced, nor will replacement parts be manufactured.
Anyone wishing to have an original iPhone repaired would need to go to an independent store or expert, rather than to Apple directly.
A nmber of other Apple products also share the same fate, with various Macs that have also reached the six-year milestone being consigned to history.
The original iPhone - which did not support 3G signals - was the first mainstream touchscreen phone, kicking into touch clunky mobile operating systems.
Over six million handsets were sold and it was replaced by a 3G version in 2008.
Since then, there have been a further four iPhone generations - 3GS, 4, 4S and 5.
