Police are hunting a gang after a man was attacked in an alley during an attempted robbery in Hampshire.

It happened when a 19-year-old man was walking in an alley between houses in the area of The Links off Rowner Lane in Bridgemary, Gosport.

Shortly after 1am on the morning of Sunday, May 26, 2013, a group of four men approached him – one demanded the victim’s phone.

When he refused, one of the men made threats with a broken glass bottle before head butting the victim.

The 19-year-old pushed his attacker away and ran to safety. He had received a cut to his nose.

No property was stolen.

All four men were described as white and riding push bikes.

The main suspect was described as:

  •   White
  • Aged in his mid-teens
  • 5 ft 8 ins tall
  • Very short dark hair
  • Spotty complexion
  • Wearing a dark colour hooded top and light grey tracksuit trousers.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Katie Wakefield said: “The 19-year-old man left a party in the early hours of the morning to go outside and make a phone call to his girlfriend.

"The alleyway is surrounded by houses and I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything to contact Fareham CID.”
