TWO men have been questioned by detectives investigating a grievous attack that left a man unconscious on the ground.

As reported by the Daily Echo yesterday, the 29-year-old victim was left with a bleed on the brain and spent several days in hospital after being assaulted outside a pizza shop.

The incident happened on the street outside Pizza GoGo in Bedford Place, Southampton, moments after the victim had ordered takeaway food before stepping outside the store.

Two men are understood to have been involved in the attack in which he was punched in the face twice before he fell to the ground.

He was left unconscious as the pair left the scene.

Police have now confirmed that following an appeal to find two men pictured in a CCTV image from the takeaway, they have spoken to two men who arrived at a Southampton police station voluntarily on Thursday night.

They were subsequently interviewed under caution before they were released pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information about the attack which happened around 1.15am on Sunday May 19 is asked to contact Southampton CID on 101.
