RUSTY swings have been replaced after a community fund raising drive saw a Hampshire village play park restored to its former glory.
Children in East Tytherley, near Romsey, can now enjoy new swings in the Dalgety Family Community Playing Field after the villagers came together to give them a much-needed restoration ever since they fell into disrepair in the 1960s.
The four swings – two for toddlers and two for children – were installed after most of the £5,000 needed to refurbish them came from the village’s annual country fair, which this year takes place on June 8.
More than £1,300 came from grant money from the Hampshire Playing Fields Association and the Sarah Rolle Trust.
