UNDER-AGE drinkers will be the target of police to ensure a family friendly festival passes off safely this weekend.
People under the age of 18 are being warned that if they are found under the influence they will be removed by police until their parents can collect them and take them home.
The same system was operated at the Isle of Wight’s Old Gaffers Festival last year and helped ensure the event was a great success, say officers.
Sergeant Mark Lyth of the West Wight Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “We are looking forward to this year’s Old Gaffers Festival and hope it will be as safe, peaceful and well organised event as in previous years.
“The West Wight Safer Neighbourhood team are working closely with the organising committee, Yarmouth Harbour Commission, licensees and transport operators to maintain public safety.”
