Apple's annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) begins today in San Francisco, with the Cupertino giant expecting to showcase a new version of its mobile operating system.

iOS 7 is expecting to be shown off to developers, with suggestions it could feature a new look, moving away from the current skeuomorphic design used in the first six iterations of the software.

Icons are rumoured to be of a flat design, rather than the rounded glass currently used, and Apple's on in house apps are said to be moving away from the faux real world designs, such as the tape deck in the Podcast app or the leather book effect found in Contacts and Find My Friends.

The look will be based more on simple contrasts rather than making lots of use of textures, similar to the current designs used by Google and Microsoft.

Away from iOS, rumours are also abound concerning iRadio, which would be Apple's answer to Google Play Music and Spotify, while the more optimistic Apple fans are hoping for a glimpse of the much rumoured iWatch, although that would be a huge surprise.

As is usually done at WWDC, new Macs and an update to OSX are due, along with the possibility of an update to the iPad, although the latter may be a bit of a longshot.
