A HAMPSHIRE maritime school has welcomed its new commander.

Captain Steve Dainton CBE Royal Navy has taken Command of HMS Collingwood and the Maritime Warfare School in Fareham, where he will oversee the delivery of all warfare and weapon engineering training for Royal Navy Officers.

The school is dedicated to ensuring sailors with the Royal Navy are trained and prepared for any eventuality before being sent out to challenging operations around the globe.

Captain Dainton, who has served with the navy for 26 years, was given the role after the former commanding officer Commodore Mike Mansergh CBE Royal Navy was promoted to COMOT Commander Operational Training.
