WINCHESTER city centre needs more litter bins, the town forum heard.

The review was sparked by lobbying in June by David Jones, chairman of the volunteer Winchester Litter Pickers who have suggested new bins at 49 sites.

City councillors on the forum, which represents the six Winchester city wards, agreed in principle to support extra bins subject to final budget decisions.

The review comes as the city council is replacing dog waste bins with new bigger dual use ones.
