A retrial is likely in the case of a 22-year-old woman accused of causing the death of an 82-year-old lollipop man by careless driving after a jury failed to come to a verdict.
Lauren Paul, of Ramblers Way, Waterlooville, denies a charge in relation to the death of Raymond Elsmore following the incident last December.
Mr Elsmore had worked for about 10 years helping children at Queen's Inclosure Primary School in Waterlooville.
Following three days of evidence, the jury of seven women and five men failed to reach a majority verdict and prosecutor Matthew Lawson told the court that he would be seeking a retrial.
Paul wept in the dock as Judge Roger Hetherington adjourned the case to a date to be set.
