A COMMITTEE will decide the fate of the site of a former care home for the elderly.
Whitehaven Lodge, in Buttermere Close, Redbridge, Southampton, was demolished in 2011 and a developer now wants to build 28 homes there.
Tab Projects and the Raglan Housing Association has submitted plans to Southampton City Council.
The council’s planning and rights of way panel will today decide on the plans.
If they give the project the green light, it could soon contain a range of houses ranging in size from one-bedroom to four.
Five objections have been received about the proposals, with some residents and ward councillors Andrew Pope and Cathie McEwing registering concerns that it would be out of keeping with its surroundings.
But the panel has been recommended to delegate powers to council officers to grant planning permission.
