SOUTHAMPTON planners have approved a controversial scheme to add more housing to a city property.
Cranbourne Homes applied for retrospective permission to convert a property in Bitterne Road West, Peartree, from two flats to three flats and cycle storage.
Although officers recommended approving the proposal, a city council planning committee was divided on the matter.
In the end, the majority of councillors approved it on the grounds that it was of good design and would provide much-needed housing.
