A PENSIONER who worked for years in the shipbuilding industry died as a result of significant asbestos exposure, an inquest heard.
Harold Williams died from pneumonia at Southampton General Hospital in November last year after being admitted six weeks earlier.
A post-mortem examination on the 79-year-old revealed that it was his exposure to asbestos during his years working in shipyards, in both Merseyside and Plymouth, that sparked the development of the pneumonia.
Coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of death from industrial disease.
