HOLOCAUST Memorial Day is being marked at an event in Southampton.
Solent University’s conference centre will host the event today to commemorate the victims of Nazi atrocities in the Second World War.
The mayor of Southampton, Ivan White, will open the event, which will hear from Holocaust survivor Henry Schachter.
Hesurvived the Holocaust in Belgium by going into hiding, before travelling to the UK in search of his surviving family.
Itchen College students will deliver a number of testimonials and readings, and the evening will be closed with an exhibition curated by Solent students, which will feature responses to the Holocaust from local college students.
Professor Tony Kushner said: “It is a privilege for us to welcome Henry Schachter to the city’s memorial event.”
The event starts at 6pm and is free to attend.
