Coming full circle, the creative team of Footlights have chosen to return to their very first show for their farewell production.
The cleverly designed set proved multi-purpose and contributed brilliantly to the dynamism and flow of the action. Director David Tatnall oversaw the proceedings with his usual attention to detail and interpretative flair, creating a fresh, fast moving production that made great use of the auditorium.
Eight-year-old Ellis Bradley was a poised and confident Oliver. There was some colourful support, especially Jack Shaw-Downie as the faineant Mr Bumble, Sophie Barnard as Widow Corney and Nick Rew as a comic Fagin.
Henry Cox was all light as the Artful Dodger whilst Tom Chenhall made an effectively dark and snarling Sykes.
At the heart was another powerhouse performance from Lauren Caffyn as the doomed Nancy.
